It's black. You put it on a record player. It sounds good.

So I’m pretty excited for the next release from Oliver $, dropping early next week on Jesse Rose’s ‘Play It Down’ label.

In brief, it’s just a great forward-thinking house record, with it’s simplicity giving it a air of elegance and a clever use of crowd noise/atmospherics. Grooving bassline, snappy percussion… Oh and it samples Moodyman. It’s a recipe for a downright dancefloor bomb.

Doin’ Ya Thang follows the label’s exciting/frustrating release scheme, pressing only 200 copies to the black stuff with a digital release on the tail.

Am I the only one enjoying these creative release schemes emerging in the year two-thousand and livin’?

Bold graphics and statements on Pacquiao’s struggles, his love of country, relentless training, and the Jack Russell terrier that attained folklore status, each tees and hoodies took inspiration from different elements of Pacquiao’s personal life. And the reason why people have called him the “People’s Champ”.

Warriors of Radness promote a new capsule of T-shirts with this short video titled “California Girls”. The surf-centric brand partnered with photographer Damon Loble to create two separte T-shirts for the Spring 2011 line. The video also includes a track by Warriors of Radness recording artist Gantez Warrior. The shirts are available now at Reserve.

While colorful trunks, robes, and languages are still expected on Saturday, May 7th, as Manny Pacquiao defends his WBO Welterweight World Title against “Sugar Shane” Mosley, one ostentatious display with be missing are Pacquiao’s new boxing boots. Devised by Nike Training and the fighter himself, the new Boxing Boots for the title fight were meant for “business”. Gone are the tassels, instead, designers added even more strings of Flywire, as well as a midfoot strap to keep the fit taut. Applied in between are mesh insets, both lightweight and breathable, while key portions are reinforced by patent leather. In Philippines’ royal blue, a reference to Pacquiao’s love for his country, with white outsole and cross strap. The rising sun Manny Pacquiao emblems are etched in metallic gold with his name running along both heels in reflective paint. Look and meant for a control output of aggression, the Manny Pacquiao Boxing Boots by Nike Training will appear at the main event on May 7th.

Produced by Ridley Scott, directed by Michael Macdonald the “Life in a Day” film will make for compelling viewing and will certainly reach boiling point with anticipation. Filmed by “you”, the film is compiled of thousands of videos uploaded on Youtube and coincide in a 90 minute documentary. Launching on July 24, the film embraces a global audience with footage from a 24 hour scope this promises to capture the attention.
